Snow and ice: Hej då!

When the days are getting longer and the temperature is rising, the heart of a fisherman starts beating faster! Finally, the long Swedish winter has ended and we can focus ourselves on the new fishing season. It has been a hard time for me as a Dutch guy, with these crazy low Scandinavian temperatures and no open water to cast my lures!

But here up north the people have found a way to entertain themselves in these harsh conditions: icefishing! At first I was a little sceptic, as sitting and waiting for a fish is normally not my kind of fishing. But it turned out to be a good way to satisfy my hunger for the spring.

Now, a few of the waters have been ice-free for a few weeks and we, the guys from my class and me, have been out doing some decent fishing a couple of times. Time for me to practise my fly fishing techniques and start chasing those green ladies again!

A few days of studying are on the planning now, but you can find me at the waterfront soon.

As we say in Holland, Strakke lijnen en kromme toppen! (tight lines and curved rods!)

Beautiful, but really cold!

First fish on the ice.

Good alternative for not fishing at all!
